i am looking forward to “elementary” but mostly i am looking forward to seeing what a fandom built largely upon spite will be like
some interesting fanfiction i’ll tell you what: “and then sherlock placed his lips upon joan’s, who was a woman and also lucy liu. and they kissed. with tongues. neither of them were benedict cumberbatch at all.”
welp guess what I’m gonna have to start watching
May 2012
Okay, holy shit, I’m sorry, but this is fucking ridiculous and I CAN’T HOLD IT IN ANYMORE OKAY
I have never read such amazing fanfiction. From what I’ve seen thus far, the Sherlock fandom shits all over every other fandom in terms of writing, I can’t even. Holy shit. Literally every fic I’ve…
Reblogging because of
-An Avalanche of Detour Signs (mollycentric; brilliant)
-Reignite (angsty smutless!johnlock; heartwrenching)
-The Progress of Sherlock Holmes (mentioning it for a second time because it is the Actual Perfect Fanfiction just jesus christ the command of language here. lost the ability to can)
If convenient, read. If inconvenient, read anyway.
Fandom. I’m in lesbians with you.

what
Hmm, Benedict Cumberbatch didn’t win.
I see this as a delay of the inevitable. When he gets his fancy statue thing for Season 3 it’ll be twice as satisfying! :D
Actually, it’s whatever. I ain’t even mad. I mean hell, the fact that they didn’t give him a strange mask thing propped up on a little stand doesn’t diminish the worth of his performance. We still get to appreciate it all we want. The opinion of the BAFTAs is just another opinion, like mine or yours, y’know? Sure, it’s a ‘public eye’ sort of thing, so it could be seen as a slap in the face, but whatever. Sherlock has long won over the public eye, so it actually couldn’t matter less. I, for one, plan to watch Appropriate Adult and enjoy the shit out of it, and hopefully other people will too. Stay classy, Doylies!
bonus points: andrew scott being fucking adorable
Sherlock’s first person voice should never be written any other way. Jesus, this writing is exquisite. Treat yourself to the read.

omg i’m about to make something so awesome. hold on a hot sec
Rated M for brief but graphic violence and a whole lot of sadness.
Summary: Few missteps have cut a man so deeply as this one did him.
Notes: No Reichenbach involved. Not pairing-centric, but Johnlock if you squint. ~3,000 words.
Hope you like it!

Something in his arrogance never let him believe it could actually happen.
It was like a game, almost. (And now that it’s happened, how awful even to think it.)
How far could he push? How much of a rush could he get? The risk of losing the game … more of a thrill than the most wicked high. Such a perilous path to take.
You have my axe
And my bow
Guys. Read this. It’s so good.
Seconded! This is absurdly well-written. The fact that they were so in-character the whole time was stunning, given the amount of AU going on. It’s a little slow-moving for the length, but funny/charming enough to gloss that over smoothly for the most part. Sherlock’s character work in particular was well done, I thought.
(Warnings for absurd amounts of sex and some brief-ish but very graphic violence, by the way.)
~9,000 words of Johnlock.
Summary: We’ll start at the finish line and work our way back.
Notes: On the whole, it’s somewhat unconventional in narrative style. Not too much angsting about, despite the premise. Oh, yeah, and there’s one relatively brief smutty scene.
Hope you like it! <3

This story shall start with the end – the end they would have avoided if they could have had their way. And it starts with the realization that some things are broken far beyond repair.
Join me in Scene One. Scene One Hundred. Scene One Too Many. The place: the ever-familiar 221B Baker Street. The men: Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Hamish Watson. The smell: that of mild detergent, mold, and something like rotting flesh.
The sound: raised voices.
The sight: terrible.

I agree! Actually I started…using pencil and paper…write…
Oh, I totally know what you mean. It’s so exhausting sometimes to start a long project, especially if you’re in the middle of a million things. Of course, my advice will always be to write over not writing, but sometimes it’s honestly a bad idea. my sleep patterns this year were so fucked up because i wrote instead of sleeping… gah
BUT if it’s just a matter of gathering up the initiative to start the fics? START, WOMAN! :P We Tomioneers need your voice! COME AND JOIN THE JOYFUL CHORUS.
And hey, I’m sure people will forgive slow update times. I mean shit, people still read my stuff (poor souls) and my updates are about as reliable as peace in the middle east. (not PC? oh well.)

You’re welcome, I’m glad you at least found some of your work! I’ve actually lost chapters and whatnot before because I…
goodness gracious. *hugs* they just need to make it so that it is literally impossible for work to be lost. until then writers will continue to have heart attacks.

i usually avoid this by writing everything in google docs. you should try that sometime. but then i get distracted easily because internet.
Yeah, when I’m really looking for solid writing time I unplug my internet entirely. XD I’m too scatterbrained to go long without facebook/tumblr/email drawing my attention.

I use open office so I’m not completely sure how Word works but doesn’t it have a “Open recently closed file” sort of…
ahaha well the tardis is always a good thing. yeah, Word has a recently closed files thing, but it’s empty.
BUT! i searched my email and found an edited version of the WIP, and most of the johnlock draft, so thank god. *relief* the bulk of the work went into those two… crisis sort of averted. thanks for sticking with me during the breakdown, by the way! kjsdhfdkk

I don’t know what to tell you, if the system restore points aren’t showing then somehow the fall deleted them too and…
Yeah, I’m searching everywhere to try and find a proper restore point. The weekly restores, at least, can’t have vanished - it just doesn’t make any sense. Why would hitting the floor send my computer back in time?! Ack gack.
![]()
That’s horrible! D: Is there a chance your computer has restore points ?! Try to see if the thing automatically saved your work when it shut off randomly.
It didn’t. The /UnsavedFiles folder in Word is empty, and it’s saying my last restore point is April 21st, which is a dirty lie.
I might take it to a computer store tomorrow, see if they can extract anything. This is actually terrible.
![]()
sorry! But you didn’t save any…it!? Have you tried
Hahah, believe me, I’m a compulsive hit-save-er. But I only back up to a memory stick once a week - I didn’t think I’d have to cover for a computer randomly losing a week’s worth of (saved!) work. The documents are just gone. 5ever.
i just said 5ever. god, my state of distress is doing terrible things
![]()
Oh no! D’: I guess you’ll have to save all your work to a memory stick periodically or something. Did any of your work autosave?
I save to my memory stick about once a week. Unfortunately, didn’t get any of this stuff saved. I can’t believe it didn’t autosave - if it had just turned off normally it would’ve, but the hard drive has actually, like, reverted to a former state of being. The last saved files it has are from the thirteenth, and that’s not just Word - my saved playlists and stuff are changed back, too.
And system restore is lying to me and saying I haven’t made a system restore point since April 21st. IT AUTOMATICALLY SETS A RESTORE POINT EVERY WEEK. STOP LYING TO ME, COMPUTER.
Jesus Christ. My computer slid off a chair and hit the floor. Turned itself off. (Which is ridiculous in the first place because it was literally a falling distance of two feet.) And when I turned it back on, it’d lost everything new I’d written in the last week. Which means most of chapter three of Silver Tongues and Sapphire Eyes, half a chapter of Ad Infinitum, and a fucking EIGHT THOUSAND word Johnlock one-shot which I was so excited and nervous to share. Not to mention vital editing I’d done on a shit ton of my original fiction, including a POV change in my work in progress that’s going to be a motherfucker to rewrite.
I’m legitimately crying. Fuck. HOW CAN MY WORK JUST BE GONE. FUCK TECHNOLOGY.
Excuse me while I go lie in a ditch and sob myself into a stupor.

You should make a “actual-cannibal-speechwriter-is-watching-you-and” tumblr. Do it.
Tempting … tempting.

days when i forget to eat breakfast are the worst because i have really strong habits of biting my lips and the skin around my nails, so then i get to fourth period and I’m like all I’ve eaten today is human flesh. ew.
I need someone to give me a place to stay. Now. El Paso, Texas/Las Cruces, New Mexico area. I honestly can’t drive that far.
Please. If anyone knows someone in these areas, let me know. Juarez is not an option. I just can’t be here right now as I feel so absolutely horrible and as if I can’t do anything right.
Signal boost — Ash needs a place to stay in this area. Any takers?
AAAGHHH THE LATEST KORRA WAS SO AWESOME. Asami character development FOR THE WIN FOREVER.
Thanks for the watch-link you guys <3
Hey guys! I don’t want to look at my dashboard or the Korra tag because spoilers - but does anyone know where I can find the episode online? (I don’t have cable, so yeah, I’m always that sad desperate person waiting for an upload of some sort.) :D Please help me?

I must be reading the wrong fics because every one I’ve read has yet to peg Sherlock’s personality.
Really? Huh! Interesting. I mean, Sherlock is kind of a mercurial character, so I think people tend to gravitate toward the more relatable aspects of his personality in writing. But in Scandal in Belgravia, particularly, he’s rather human and displays emotion in almost normal ways, so it’s feasible for him to be relatable. For me it’s all about the angle. As long as I can see that a certain side of Sherlock has been portrayed in canon at some point or other, I’m fine with reading it in fanfiction. And as long as it’s liberally balanced with his core traits (arrogance, self-importance, and a side of egotism, which yes, are all synonyms, but whatever).
That’s personality-wise, of course. Sherlock’s vocal habits are irritatingly difficult to mirror, since we don’t have the benefit of the Cumberbatch delivery. I’ll definitely concede that I’ve seen a bunch of writing where he verbally waxes emotional without quite enough internal justification - but since our canon isn’t a first-person written delivery, as Mrs. Hudson says, “Who knows what goes on inside that funny odd head of his?”
The main thing that makes me happy is the writing quality, honestly. So nice to see strong neat prose in fanfiction, gaaahhhh *creys*
Holy shit. Literally every fic I’ve read has been of remarkable quality. The mechanics are good, the characterizations accurate, the dialogue natural - and sentence by sentence, the authors have a wonderful command of language. And that’s like, the less impressive stories. The top end is HOLYFUCKTAKEMYMONEY types of epic.
I MEAN SHIT YOU GUYS. I CAN’T DEAL WITH THIS. IT’S LIKE PORN FOR WRITERS.
erm actually in a lot of cases it is porn
BUT THAT IS A TECHNICALITY
oh sherlock fandom… you make me feel like such a traitor to other fandoms
