If you were to shine the Bat Signal into the night sky on a night such as this, a night when the clouds sit heavy and low above Gotham like a coat of wool, you would most certainly not gain my full and immediate attention.

You would most certainly not see me galvanized into action; you would not see me stride with purpose toward my secret cave stocked with innumerable weapons created for the sole purpose of bringing justice to the city.

You would not hear the faint roar of an engine of unimaginable strength as I gunned the Batmobile from its subterranean location.

You would not smell the faint tang of blood; nor would you hear the cry of those dedicated to the perpetuation of cruel villainy as they were stricken from their sorry lives by the iron fist of righteousness.
