Okay, dear anons and visitors and beautiful followers alike. This is the last one of these gif/jif-related things I’m gonna post. If you really want to have a debate over this type of thing … sorry to say it, but I’m not your girl. I believe that English is ever-changing and that while we should respect established norms, we have no obligation to perpetuate patterns in pre-existing orthography when it comes to new language.
In other words, I legitimately could give very few fucks about how you pronounce .gif.
XD I dunno, I started those post things as a devil’s advocate and as an aspiring statistician (just kidding, i could give few fucks about statistics as well) … welp, basically out of interest in Tumblr society (because I love Tumblr society). Now the ball has started rolling, it’s out of my hands.

I pronounce it with a hard g. But I was interested in seeing, objectively, which pronunciation has more proponents. :D I’ve heard that the original developers of the .gif pronounced it ‘jif’, which is why the jiffers pronounce it the way they do. I MEAN IN THE END LET’S BE HONEST HERE HOW MUCH DOES IT MATTER
